Finance Committee Meeting Minutes

Present: Stanley Ross, Donald Clawson, William Johnson (BJ) and Kelly Tryon
The Finance Committee met to discuss the following:
- Met with Kelly Tryon, Chair of the Parks Commission to discuss the proposal to have Berkshire South manage all of the responsibilities (a-z) of the lifeguards. Using this service will cost the town approximately $9,000 more. The Finance Committee was unanimously in support of this proposal. For the current fiscal year the Parks Department will need $5,460 to cover from March – June of this fiscal year. The Committee also supported this transfer. Kelly will have the rest of her budget requests on Monday.
- BJ inquired about the 3% increase that Shawn has requested for his crew. Bj stated he is of the attitude since inflation has been very low that a merit increase would be better versus an across the board increase. The Committee plans to meet with Shawn to discuss his team and where he feels everyone is at and where they are going.
- The Finance Committee also plans to look at the old equipment that any department is requesting to replace to determine if it needs to be done in the current year or if it can wait.
